Lake County Commission recap, week ending September 4, 2026

This week the Lake County Board of County Commissioners:

• Approved rezoning about 2,241 gross acres from Agriculture District to a planned unit developmentPlanned Unit Development: a custom zoning written for one project, with its own rules for lot sizes, uses and open space, instead of a standard zoning district. Lake County Land Development Regulations, Chapter XIV (rezoning and PUD) for a mixed-use development within the Wellness Way Area Plan.

• Tabled a change to the Church of God Campground planned development to allow Neighborhood Commercial uses and 29 permanent RV sites.

• Tabled a variancePermission to break a specific zoning rule, such as a setback from a property line, for one property where the rule causes a hardship. Lake County Land Development Regulations, Chapter XIV (variances) for Narayana Dental Office to skip the required 25 foot landscape buffer on the western side of the parcel.

• Approved a closed session on September 8, 2026, to discuss collective bargaining negotiations.
