How to speak at a Lake County Commission meeting

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners accepts public comment at regular meetings. This guide explains the schedule, rules, and how to join in person or remotely.

Before you go

The Nov 3, 2026 meeting started at 9:00 a.m. The Nov 17 and Dec 1, 2026 meetings are listed at 10:00 a.m. Check the CivicClerk meetings portal for the current schedule and times.

Meetings are held in the Board Chambers at the Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main Street, Tavares.

You may submit written comments ahead of time. Comments submitted before 5:00 p.m. on the day before the meeting are shared with commissioners. Comments submitted after 5:00 p.m. are provided after the meeting. Submit written comments through the BCC Meeting Public Comment Form. You may also mail comments to: Board of County Commissioners, Post Office Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778.

At the meeting

The Citizen Question and Comment Period comes after Minutes Approval and before Proclamations. The agenda states: "If the issue raised is not on today's agenda, action will not be taken by the Board."

Each speaker is limited to 3 minutes. Questions may be answered by staff or referred for appropriate action. If further action is needed, the item may be placed on a future agenda.

The following cannot be discussed during the public comment period:

Joining remotely

The Board Meetings page lists the Zoom meeting ID and call-in numbers. Follow the Virtual Meeting User Guide for the Public for instructions on joining. Raise your hand using the *9 key on a phone. State your name before speaking. You will hear a beep when three minutes have elapsed.

Public hearings

Items advertised for a specific time are not moved earlier. The Board may move other items earlier as its schedule permits. Anyone may comment during the formal public hearing process.
